Ethics & Change Lab

Sandra Meeuwsen (Curaçao, 1966) promoveerde in 2020 in de Wijsbegeerte en Moraalwetenschappen aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Daarna nam zij het initiatief tot het ‘Erasmus Center for Sport Integrity & Transtion’ (ESPRIT), van 2022 tot 2025 verbonden aan de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam.

Sandra stelt nu haar kennis en ervaring binnen het ‘Ethics & Change Lab’ ter beschikking, als senior expert op het gebied van integriteit, inclusie en impact. Haar jarenlange ervaring in de sport zet zij in om dit sociale domein te steunen in de transitie die al volop gaande is. De learnings in de sport bieden ook een spiegel voor andere domeinen, zoals onderwijs, zorg en het bedrijfsleven.

Sandra received her PhD in Philosophy and Moral Sciences at Free University Brussels (VUB) in 2020. She then took the initiative to build the ‘Erasmus Center for Sport Integrity & Transtion’ (ESPRIT), affiliated to Erasmus University Rotterdam from 2022 to 2025.

Sandra now shares her knowledge and experience within the ‘Ethics & Change Lab’, as a senior expert on integrity, inclusion and impact. She uses her decades of experience in the realm of sport to support this social practice in its transtional journey, already in full swing. The learnings in sport also offer a mirror for other domains, such as education, healthcare and business

We leven in wankele tijden. De wereld staat in brand en al onze zekerheden staan onder druk: bijvoorbeeld de democratie, rechtstaat en het financiële systeem. Zelfs een gedeelde moraal lijkt ver te zoeken in deze tijd, door sommigen aangeduid als laat-moderniteit, of zelfs post-antropoceen. De reflex is om krampachtig vast te houden aan wat tot nu toe gewerkt heeft, of ‘de Ander’ dan wel ‘het systeem’ de schuld te geven van de huidige situatie. Apathie, cynisme en polarisatie zijn het gevolg. Hoe kan het anders?

Het ‘Ethics & Change Lab’ biedt een dynamisch netwerk met ervaring, kennis en gelijkgezinden om samen te verkennen waar het pad naar voren ligt. Hoe kan een nieuw fundament ontstaan voor onze toekomstige moraal? Welke impuls heeft de politiek, samenleving en sport nodig om duurzaam te transformeren? Wat is de functie van leiderschap, structuur en beleid bij het verbeteren van integriteit, inclusie en impact?

We live in shaky times. The world is on fire and all our certainties seem to collapse: democracy, the rule of law and our financial system, for example. Even a shared sense of morality seems remote these days, by some referred to as late modernity, or even the post-anthropocene. The reflex is to cling desperately to what has worked so far, or to blame ‘the Other’ or ‘the system’ for the current situation. Apathy, cynicism and polarisation are the result of all this. How can we turn this tide and move into the future emerging?

The ‘Ethics & Change Lab’ offers a dynamic community of practice, to exchange experience, knowledge and ideas with like-minded people. How to build a new foundation for our morality and sense of belonging? What impuls do politics, society and sport need to sustainably transform? How about leadership, structure and policy in improving integrity, inclusion and impact?
